John Steinbeck is an American author, novelist and the 1962 Nobel Prize winner in Literature. He authored 33 works and sold nearly 100 million copies all over the world. His best-sellers, Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath account for over half of this amount . Through his keen observations of society, Steinbeck uses a sympathetic, humorous, and imaginative language approach to depict the humanity and the bravery of the lower-class to become their own “heroes”. Steinbeck’s novels were widely embraced by the American public and 17 of his stories were adapted by Hollywood.
