Author : Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was born in Lyon, France in 1900. He joined the French Air Force and worked for airlines after retirement, during which he published two novels, Courrier Sud (Southern Mail) and Vol de nuit (Night Flight). Both books were well-acclaimed and subsequently turned him into a rising star in the literary world. When World War II broke out, Saint-Exupéry rejoined the French Air Force, only to go into exile in New York later that year. During his exile, he wrote Pilote de guerre (Flight to Arras), Lettre à un otage (Letter to a Hostage), and Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince). On July 31, 1944, Saint-Exupéry disappeared while flying a reconnaissance mission. He never returned.
